Born in the great state of Louisiana, “Rickety” Rob Herrington was steeped in western, country, cajun, and classical music from a young age.  He first appeared on a stage singing “Old MacDonald”, in elementary school, to wild (if unmerited!) applause.  He has performed regularly ever since, and in a wide variety of settings –- from churches, to schools, to book fairs, to care homes, to retirement centers, to weddings,  to smoky honky tonks.  He studied classical guitar for many years and has performed country, western, and popular American standards on a regular basis ever since that first stage experience in 1965.   He  takes as his musical inspiration “The Herrington Sisters,” three of his Texan aunts who recorded and performed live in the 1940's. Aunt June, Aunt Winnie, Aunt Ida Nell, and their 3-part harmonies  are all fondly remembered! It was from these ladies that he learned “Lonesome Trail,” a rare and beautiful song -- and one of his favorites.  Rickety Rob moved to the great state of Texas in the 1990s and joined the Cowtown Opry,  a western swing band, in 2024.  They perform regularly at the Stockyards and in other venues in and around  Ft. Worth, Texas.
